The Slovenian EOSC Node integrates mature national research infrastructures and services into the EOSC Federation, providing a sustainable and operational bridge between European Open Science policies and national implementations.
Anchored in permanent national institutions and aligned with Slovenia’s Action Plan for Open Science (2023–2030), the Node brings together established national e-infrastructure, repositories, federated AAI services, high-performance computing (HPC), and scalable storage systems, collaborative platforms, data-intensive storage, high-performance computing (HPC), containerised environments, reproducible workflows and training.
Key objective: To federate mature Slovenian national repositories and services into the EOSC Federation and deliver the upgrades needed for full EOSC interoperability.
Science areas: Open Science, data-intensive science, high-performance computing (HPC), cross-disciplinary research, social sciences, humanities, and language technologies
SCIENTIFIC IMPACT
The Slovenian EOSC Node supports reproducible, cross-border research by integrating national repositories, compute, storage, collaboration and workflow services into EOSC-aligned user journeys.
FAIR data
Slovenian institutional, national, and domain repositories for publications, datasets and other research outputs, including open metadata with open, restricted, embargoed or controlled content depending on repository policies.
Scientific use cases
End-to-end Open Science workflow supporting collaboration, analysis, and publication
Data-intensive services and federated storage
Compute-intensive workflows
Training and skills development
Dissemination and federated user support (helpdesk)
Cross-border collaboration with Croatia via federated Nextcloud
Federated discovery, software platforms, and containerised research environments
Cross border reproducible analysis workflows using REANA with Slovakia and Poland
Access follows institutional, repository and project policies. Metadata are open and EOSC-discoverable; content access may be open or controlled. Services use federated institutional access where applicable.
