On 09 October 2025, the Swiss research and innovation community came together for an inspiring webinar dedicated to Switzerland’s role in shaping EOSC. The event marked the official launch of SENPro.
SENPro is the Swiss EOSC Node Prototype Project, a collaborative effort to overcome fragmentation and build a federated, FAIR-compliant research ecosystem aligned with European standards.
The session opened with Thomas Schulthess, SENPro Project Coordinator, setting the stage for Switzerland’s bold leap into the EOSC future. Engaging presentations followed from swissuniversities’ Open Science Programme and SERI’s International Research and Innovation Programmes, highlighting the strategic importance of interoperability and collaboration. An inspiring keynote was given by Bob Jones, Special Envoy for the EOSC Federation, who underscored the benefits and opportunities for organisations joining the EOSC Federation.
The center of the webinar was the introduction of SENPro’s three pillars, the foundation for building Switzerland’s EOSC Node Prototype:
- Needs Assessment: Listening, mapping, and understanding the requirements of Swiss research communities.
- Technical Development: Reusing, adapting, and building solutions to create a robust prototype.
- Validation & Governance: Testing, shaping, and ensuring sustainability through community-driven governance.
This event gave participants a clear vision of EOSC’s role in accelerating research and innovation across Europe, and how SENPro is paving the way for Switzerland to lead through collaboration, interoperability, and strategic alignment.
