EOSC Academy launches, powering learning across the EOSC community

The EOSC Academy opens its virtual doors today, marking a major milestone in increasing knowledge, capacity, and skills across the EOSC Federation.

Designed to be a dynamic learning hub, the EOSC Academy introduces accessible, expert-led training to support organisations and individuals engaging with the EOSC Federation. Registrations are now open for the first interactive sessions taking place in May and June 2026.

With the Federation’s second-wave candidate Nodes and the beneficiaries of the EOSC Gravity cascading grants gathering for their kick-off meetings this week, the launch of the EOSC Academy comes at a pivotal moment for the Federation. The Academy is, from day one, purpose-built to facilitate the enrolment of Nodes and onboarding of resources to the Federation, and to support the work of the Gravity cascading projects.

A learning platform for the EOSC community

The EOSC Academy offers a valuable portfolio of interactive online courses, expert insights, and curated background materials. While primarily tailored for stakeholders involved in current and future EOSC Nodes, the Academy is open to anyone interested in understanding and contributing to the EOSC Federation.

All resources are openly accessible to the wider community, with registration required only for participation in live sessions.

Structured learning across the EOSC journey

The Academy’s curriculum reflects the real-world journey of organisations entering and operating within the EOSC Federation. It is organised into dedicated learning tracks designed to guide learners from foundational understanding to full operational engagement. Interested participants can currently follow two tracks:

  • Track 1: Building and operating a Node
  • Track 2: Participating in the EOSC Federation

By bringing together knowledge from across the ecosystem, the Academy fosters alignment with EOSC’s operational, policy, and technical frameworks.

First courses now available

The EOSC Academy launches with an initial portfolio of seven courses, combining self-paced materials with live online sessions. These courses are designed for Node coordinators, technical leads, service providers, and organisations preparing to join the EOSC Federation.

The first live sessions for three courses are scheduled to take place online in May and June 2026:

  • Course 1: Explaining the EOSC Federation
    • Live session: Wednesday, 13 May 2026, 15:00–16:30 CEST

  • Course 2: Applying the EOSC Federation Handbook
    • Live sessions: Mondays on 01, 15, and 22 June 2026, 09:30–12:00 CEST

  • Course 4: Minimum requirements for a Project Charter
    • Live session: Wednesday, 10 June 2026, 15:00-16:30 CEST

To register for the live sessions, visit the EOSC Academy micro-site and select the relevant course.

In addition, self-paced materials for four more courses are now available, with live sessions coming in September 2026. Registrations will open in due time:

  • Course 3: Use cases for the EOSC Federation
  • Course 5: Developing an onboarding services policy
  • Course 6: How to onboard services to a Node
  • Course 7: AAI for EOSC explained

A strong start to a lasting initiative

During its pilot phase, running up until November 2026, the EOSC Academy focuses on supporting cascading grant beneficiaries under EOSC Gravity and engaging organisations aiming to join the Federation in future enrolment calls or through onboarding services to existing Nodes. This strategic timing ensures that new participants are not only welcomed, but fully empowered from the outset.

The Academy will continue to expand its offerings in the coming months. Developed within the EOSC Gravity project, the EOSC Academy is more than a training programme. It is a long-term investment in the EOSC Federation’s future. Its launch signals a clear ambition: to become a permanent, central resource for capacity building, knowledge exchange, and community development across EOSC.
