Case study
The Austrian NeuroCloud (ANC) is a FAIR-enabling platform for sustainable research data management in cognitive neuroscience. It supports the entire data lifecycle, from acquisition and storage to validation, metadata curation, publishing, and sharing. The platform provides researchers with tools to ensure continuous data integrity, compliance with community standards, and controlled access to research data.
Problem addressed
Neuroscientific data often lack complete metadata and standardisation, and present barriers to sharing. The Austrian NeuroCloud addresses these challenges by providing structured storage, legal support, dissemination channels, and continuous curation to ensure compliance with BIDS and metadata standards. It enhances the FAIRness of datasets by improving metadata interoperability and ensuring data reusability, all without placing an extra burden on researchers.
Added value
Leveraging the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) standard and domain-specific expertise to standardise and validate datasets, reducing manual effort for researchers.
Enabling seamless discovery, interoperability, and integration into broader research contexts through continuous and comprehensive metadata curation that enriches data at all levels.
Empowering researchers to streamline data acquisition, storage, and sharing without mastering FAIR principles or handling technical complexities.
