The next generation of EOSC-A Task Forces
With the mandates of the current EOSC-A Task Forces coming to an end in 2026, the Board of Directors has endorsed a renewed Task Force structure for 2027-2028. The new configuration takes into account the evolving needs of EOSC and the EOSC Federation, as well as priorities emerging from the forthcoming EOSC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA 2.0).
The EOSC-A Task Forces (TFs) have played a crucial role in advising the Board on strategic matters since 2021 and serve as a brain pool, harnessing the vast knowledge and expertise of the EOSC community.
Members of the new TFs will have a unique opportunity to advance EOSC through their professional insights during a critical period as discussions about Europe’s next framework programme culminate and the EOSC Federation enters operations. They will not only provide feedback on EOSC Federation developments, but also identify strategic gaps, contribute to the implementation of SRIA 2.0 priorities, and liaise with EOSC-related Horizon Europe projects and Common European Data Spaces to coordinate key activities.
As part of the reorganisation process, the Board reviewed the current EOSC-A Task Forces and EOSC Opportunity Area Expert Groups (OAEGs) to identify where expert structures could be better aligned and strengthened. Some Task Forces will continue with an adjusted scope, while others will be brought into closer alignment with related OAEG and EOSC Federation activities.
The renewed structure with five Task Forces is intended to provide a more coherent framework for expertise and collaboration across the EOSC community, ensuring that the TFs remain focused on the priorities of EOSC’s next phase.
Charters
The purpose of each TF is defined in its dedicated Charter, which sets out its scope, expected membership and potential areas of work for the 2027–2028 mandate period. Once operational, the TFs will develop their Terms of Refence defining specific tasks and timelines.

Eligibility criteria
Affiliation: The call is open to all expert-level stakeholders involved with the implementation of EOSC.
Commitment to engagement: Experts must be empowered by their home institution and prepared to comply with the mandate to demonstrate consistent and continuous dedication to and active involvement in the TF. Members who regularly miss bi-weekly meetings may be retired from the TF.
Selection principles
Relevance of expertise: Alignment of a candidate’s expertise and experience with the respective TF objectives is crucial. Applicants should demonstrate that their knowledge and competences are relevant to achieving the TF’s goals as described in the Charter.
Individual participation: Candidates are in principle allowed to apply for participation in only one TF (see How to apply tab).
Gender balance: Gender balance will be considered where possible when selecting new TF members.
Board appointment: Appointments are determined by the EOSC-A Board of Directors following a thorough review of all eligible candidates to ensure that the TF as a whole is aligned with its strategic objectives and specific needs.
Organisational representation: To encourage diversity, it is preferred that only one individual from the same organisation becomes a member of a specific TF. (This restriction may be waived in specific instances based on valid considerations, such as in the case of very large institutions.)
Affiliation: Preference may be given to representatives from EOSC-A membership.
