Ute GUNSENHEIMER
Ute Gunsenheimer began her engagement with EOSC on 1 June 2021, working within the EOSCsecretariat.eu project to start up the EOSC Association. She formally took on the role of Secretary General on 1 November 2021 and has, since then, overseen the rapid development of the EOSC Association from four founding members to roughly 250 organisations across 38 countries.
In the Association’s first three years Ute and her team have led EOSC-A’s efforts to:
- Position the EOSC Association at the centre of the EOSC ecosystem by fulfilling its role in the EOSC Partnership as the “voice of the community”;
- Contribute to the Tripartite Governance’s build-up of the EOSC Federation, and to develop the EOSC Federation Handbook;
- Rebrand and consolidate the EOSC identity across the EOSC ecosystem, including the Horizon Europe INFRAEOSC projects;
- Align cooperative efforts among the EOSC-related HE projects in her role as coordinator of EOSC Focus;
- Support the EOSC-A Board in all of its strategic and operational activities.
Before joining EOSC, Ute was Head of External Relations & EU Projects at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, where she and her team managed stakeholder relations as well as the facility’s national and international grant participation. Prior to joining ESS, Ute was managing director of the International Communications Unit at Media Consulta International Holding AG, a Berlin-based communications agency. Ute holds a Master’s degree in History and Politics.
