Mario REALE
Mario Reale graduated in High Energy Physics in Rome in 1992 and went on to earn a PhD in the same field in 1997, working with University of Wuppertal in Germany and at CERN.
From 1998 to 2001, he worked in the private sector as a Control Engineer and IT developer before joining INFN, Italy’s National Institute for Nuclear Physics, in 2001. There, he contributed to the first large international Grid project, DataGrid, and worked as a grid middleware tester and integrator at both INFN and CERN until 2006.
He then moved to GARR, the Italian Research and Education Network, where he worked from 2006 to 2019 as a Grid and Cloud Engineer. During this time, he contributed to the design and implementation of the GARR Cloud and participated in several EU international projects focused on Cloud, Trust and Identity, and Network. He was also involved in assessing Grid Middleware compliance with IPv6.
Mario also took part in both editions of the AARC project, which produced the reference AARC BluePrint architecture for AAI infrastructures.
In 2019, he joined GÉANT as Senior Research Engagement Manager. In this role, he acted as account manager for large international users, supporting the adoption of GÉANT services, contributing to the business development of eduGAIN, leading the eduGAIN training team, and coordinating the Special Interest Group on Cloud within the GÉANT Community Programme.
In April 2026, he joined the EOSC Association as Technical Coordinator for the EOSC Federation.
