EOSC Data Player

Q3 2026
  • Implementation challenges
    • FAIR metrics & certification
  • Result description

EOSC Data Player operates behind the scenes of EOSC Data Commons services. It runs analytics tools and accesses data through unified interfaces. A plugin-based dispatcher distributes tasks across diverse computing resources and supports automated, on-demand orchestration of computing services.

EOSC Data Player supports key stages of the research data lifecycle:

    • Data Collection: Facilitates transparent access to existing datasets from heterogeneous repositories and user-specific sources.
    • Data Processing and Analysis: Automates the execution of data processing and analysis workloads across heterogeneous distributed compute resources.
    • Data Sharing and Reuse: Automates reproducibility of analysis workflows and supports the reuse of data in data analytics.

    Problem addressed

EOSC Data Player simplifies and automates complex data analytics across distributed computing environments, providing researchers with seamless access, processing, and reuse of data, all without dealing with technical infrastructure.
It bridges the gap between data sources, compute engines, and reproducible analysis workflows in the EOSC ecosystem.

    Who can use the result

Experts and developers with knowledge about the Package for Processing Datasets

    Timeline

    - Adopted as EGI service and maintained by an open source community spawning from the project. - Incorporate computing and storage resources from Research/National/Institutional Infrastructures, EGI or other EOSC Nodes for the deployment and execution of analytics tools and platforms. - Adopted part of the EGI node under preparation and potentially part of the service offering for future EOSC Nodes (e.g. thematic, national, etc) - Service is open and free to use via an accessible front-end. - Integration of industrial & SME capabilities via EOSC and EGI DIH.

    How to use the result

    - As a tool provider aiming to incorporate the analytic tools - As a research organization or EOSC node aiming to offer their community an entry point to their analytic tools, - As researchers aiming to process the relevant data to perform research
