EOSC Association Newsletter #6 – 2021: The Best Is Yet To Come!

The homestretch of a busy year is full of exciting events, among them the Extraordinary 3rd General Assembly later this week, the 2nd Meeting of the EOSC Partnership Board on 14 December and the Tripartite Event on 16/17 December.

We are delighted to announce that all 13 Task Forces have been fully established and their Co-Chairs elected. We are looking forward to working with them on the up-date of the SRIA and its Multi-Annual Roadmap in the first months of 2022.

Our collaboration with the EOSC Steering Board has significantly evolved over the past months and we are going to celebrate this fruitful collaboration together with the EC in the framework of the Tripartite Event mid-December. 

In addition, we have just launched a competition for a new EOSC logo in collaboration with EOSC Future, and can’t wait to see what the vibrant graphics design community in Europe will come up with!

EOSC Association Newsletter #5 – Ready For Take-Off!

Today marks another important milestone for the EOSC Association AISBL as we officially transition to full operations under Belgian law. Indeed, I’m very pleased to welcome Giulia Lodi, Ilaria Nardello, and Justyna Kramarczyk who have joined the EOSC Association team. They have taken up their positions at our new premises in Rue du Trône 62 in Brussels-Ixelles. You can learn more about them in the People section below.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the European Commission for its seed support for the EOSC Association that has been provided via the EOSCsecretariat.eu Project. Our Secretary General, Ute Gunsenheimer, has managed this seamless transition with an enormous amount of dedication in the last five months. Congratulations!

EOSC Association Newsletter #4 – Introducing The EOSC Task Forces

September was quite a busy month, with most of the EOSC community engaged in the first official round of proposals for the Destination INFRAEOSC in Horizon Europe.

In the meantime, the Association evaluated the hundreds of applications for the Advisory Group Task Forces, confirming the members which are going to have their first operational meetings in October.

After the Open Science FAIR in September, we have entered a lively autumn with a series of exciting meetings and events within the EOSC ecosystem and beyond.

EOSC Association Newsletter #3 – Strengthening EOSC Collaboration Across Europe

With the summer coming to an end, it's a warm welcome back to you. The summer is normally a quiet time, but at the Association we have been busy setting the foundations for a brighter future for EOSC.

The summer will have also been a busy time for you with the impending Horizon Europe EOSC calls at the end of September. The successful projects will form a key part of the implementation phase of the EOSC. Engagement with the Association and its Advisory Groups will be an exciting new phase of collaboration.

EOSC Association Newsletter #2 – Establishing a strong framework

As many move towards their summer breaks, the second issue of the EOSC Association Newsletter will be a pleasant read featuring a rich update of our activities. What happened within the Association, which progress has been made in the Partnership with the European Commission, what's new in the wider EOSC ecosystem?

In this month’s edition, we welcome the high level of engagement from the community in the successful call for applications to become members of the EOSC Task Forces, which closed at the end of July with more than 500 submissions. In the meantime, four job opportunities are still open for people who want to become part of our journey.

As we move towards the definition of key performance indicators to monitor progress on EOSC in collaboration with the European Commission, the Board has also started establishing closer ties with other entities both within and outside of the EOSC ecosystem, including talks with the ambitious Gaia-X initiative and the Research Data Alliance.

EOSC Association Newsletter #1 – Implementing EOSC Together

Welcome to the first EOSC Association Newsletter. Coming out each month the newsletter will provide the EOSC community with an update on the developments inside the Association, updates from the Advisory Groups and Task Forces and showcase activities across the broader EOSC ecosystem.

In this month’s edition, we cover the EOSC co-programmed partnership which will pave the way for advancing EOSC as the research foundation of the industry-driven European Data Spaces that focus on various sectors relevant for society. We’ll also introduce the call for members of the EOSC Task Forces. We’ll have information on the newly launched EOSC-related Horizon Europe Calls and be honing in on some of the main outputs of the recent EOSC Symposium.
