General Assembly

The Association is comprised of Members and Observers.

Members and Observers must:

  • Be a legal entity established in accordance with the laws and customs of the country of origin or be constituted as an intergovernmental organisation pursuant to an international treaty in accordance with principles of international law. They cannot be a department of national governments or ministries;
  • Confirm in writing that they embrace and endorse the vision of the Association and adhere to its values;
  • Have a substantial and significant interest in, and potential contribution to or impact on, EOSC;
  • Fall into one or more of the following categories of organisations: a. Research funding organisation; b. Research performing organisation; c. Service providing organisation; d. Other organisation.

All Members should have a presence in an EU Member State or Associated Country, or any other country associated with the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Observers may be established outside this area. Each Member State or Associated Country that has one or more organisations that are Members of the Association may appoint one (1) Member to act as its Mandated Organisation, to represent national interests. In addition, the EIROforum is permitted to mandate one of its members to represent the views of the Forum. Mandated Organisations can fall into any member category.

The General Assembly is the supreme authority of the Association and is composed of one (1) Delegate per Member with voting rights and one (1) Representative per Observer without voting rights.

AMU is the major academic institution in Poznań and one of the top Polish universities. AASCTC is registered in Khartoum Sudan in 2014. Currently, it is collaborating with China Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences to install a Petascale Data Center, with Cloud Computing and Supercomputer based on Global Open Science Cloud(GOSC). AASCTC is collaborating with EGI on EOSC-Hub EAP project on GOSC. AASCTC is associate member of both International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Committee on Data (CODATA). AASCTC focuses only on supercomputer applications software developments in any field of studies and training including industrial intelligent supercomputers.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has been Spain’s national supercomputing facility since 2005. Its mission is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC was a pioneer in combining HPC service provision, and R&D into both computer and computational science under one roof. The centre currently has a staff of over 700 from 41 countries and it houses MareNostrum, who’s fifth edition will be a EuroHPC pre-Exascale computer.

The ultra-high performance research network transports huge data flows and stimulates (inter)national cooperation in the field of research and education. In addition, Belnet offers services in the areas of connectivity, security, cloud, and mobility to its users.

Together with clinicians, bioinformaticians, and biologists an unmatched Europewide platform for translational research fosters personalized medicine and disease prevention. BITP, a leading institution of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, is representing both the interests of its scientific community and it is a representative of the Basic Coordination Center (BCC) of the Ukrainian National Grid (UNG). BITP is also defined as a legal entity that is representing UNG as an associate member of EGI.eu.

CINES is a french national supercomputing center located in Montpellier. It offers global services to the scientific community in (1) High-Performance Computing (HPC); (2) Long term digital preservation; (3) Hosting of IT platforms. CINES is strongly involved in many EOSC projects: EOSC-Hub, EOSC-Pillar (technical coordinator), eTDR archiving platform in the EOSC marketplace and FAIRsFAIR. It also coordinates the CEF project PHIDIAS and is a founding member of the EUDAT-CDI consortium.

The ISSN International Centre is the Registration Authority for ISO 3297 -- ISSN. It manages the identification and the description of serial publications, print and digital, at the international level. With more than 90 member countries, the ISSN International Centre and the ISSN Network offer a suite of services on the ISSN portal (portal.issn.org), e.g. the Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources (road.issn.org) and the Keepers Registry (keepers.issn.org).

CREAF is a public research and innovation center in terrestrial ecology, territorial analysis and environmental impact, which strives for excellence in knowledge generation, methodological development, transfer, training and dissemination. It aims to contribute to improving the conservation and management of our natural environment and territory on the regional and global scales by acting as a bridge between academia, public administrations and society.

CIEMAT is a public research body assigned to the Ministry of Science and Innovation focusing on energy, environment and related technologies. It owns offices in several regions of Spain, and its activity is structured around projects which form a bridge between R+D+I and social interest goals.
