DAMAP: A Tool to Simplify the Preparation of Data Management Plans

The DAMAP–PL inter-project grant, funded under EOSC Gravity, is coordinated by TU Wien in collaboration with Cyfronet AGH and Gdańsk University of Technology. The project aims to deploy the DAMAP tool within the Polish EOSC Node infrastructure, integrate it with key node services, and adapt it to the Data Management Plan (DMP) template requirements of Poland’s National Science Centre (NCN), national funding organization.

DAMAP is an open-source service that supports researchers and data stewards in preparing clear, consistent, and funder-aligned DMPs. By reusing information available through external services, it reduces the need to enter the same data repeatedly. Its structured guidance and machine-actionable outputs help improve DMP quality while reducing the time
required for preparation.

Within the project, TU Wien provides guidance on software configuration, Cyfronet AGH is responsible for deployment and EOSC-PL Node integration, and Gdańsk University of Technology leads training and stakeholder engagement activities.
As part of the DAMAP–PL grant, users interested in adapting the tool to their institutional needs and funder requirements will take part in online and on-site workshops. Both workshops will be conducted in Polish.

The first training session will be delivered online on 22 September 2026 for representatives of five Polish institutions: AGH University of Krakow, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Warsaw University of Technology, and Lublin University of Technology.

An on-site workshop will take place at Gdańsk University of Technology on 27 October 2026. It will bring together researchers and research-support staff from the host institution, as well as from two other Pomeranian universities: the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk.

Both workshops will focus on the practical use of DAMAP. Each participating institution will nominate a technical administrator. The programme will include two parallel tracks:

• Technical administrator track: Participants will learn how to configure DAMAP and tailor it to institutional requirements, including through the administrator interface and available configuration options.
• Researcher and research-support track: Participants will explore DAMAP’s functionality through hands-on exercises, learn how to use or support the use of the tool, and contribute methodological feedback and suggestions for further improvement.

At the end of each workshop, the organisers will collect participants’ feedback on the potential implementation and wider adoption of DAMAP in the Polish research landscape.
