Global Biodiversity Information Facility Training Course: GBIF Data in Scientific Research and Education.
Resources and Videos
As part of the ongoing project of the Polish GBIF Node (Global Biodiversity Information Facility), under the patronage of the Polish Biodiversity Information Network (KSIB), a series of training courses will be organized on the mobilization and use of biodiversity data, as well as GBIF support for molecular data. The University of Silesia in Katowice invites you to a two-day training on using data from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) in scientific research and academic teaching. GBIF is an international research infrastructure that provides open access to global biodiversity data. During the training, participants will learn to search for, download, and analyze GBIF data, and to apply it to research projects and educational activities. The training will cover:
- introduction to the GBIF infrastructure and open biodiversity data
- searching and filtering data in the GBIF portal
- downloading and managing data
- basics of data analysis
- examples of applications in scientific research (e.g., species distribution
modelling, R environment, metabarcoding analyses) - use of GBIF data in education
The training is intended for scientists, PhD students, undergraduate students, and
academic teachers interested in using biodiversity data.
