This in-person event, organised as part of ELIXIR-STEERS, brings together stakeholders from policy, research and infrastructure communities to explore the evolving role of research software in science. While the definition and boundaries of research software remain topics of active discussion, its importance in driving scientific innovation and reproducibility is widely recognised.
Through two expert-led panels, we will examine the challenges and opportunities involved in treating research software as a first-class research output, on par with data and publications. We will also address barriers to implementation and explore the impact of applying FAIR principles to increase the adoption and sustainability of research software.
