The EOSC EU Node is the first operational platform of the EOSC Federation, serving as the gateway to collaborative, data-driven research across Europe. It supports the transition to Open Science by enabling multidisciplinary and multinational collaboration through analysis, sharing, FAIR data principles, and integrated digital services.
Researchers can use their institutional credentials to access virtual machines, GPU resources, interactive notebooks, containerised workflows, storage, data transfer, and collaborative tools within the User Space, a personal cloud storage for collaborative research secure. The Node connects to the EOSC Resource Catalogue, which provides access to millions of research outputs, datasets, publications, software, and services from federated European infrastructures. At the same time, the ToolsHub enables users to share and reuse workflows and tools within the EOSC EU Node itself, fostering reproducibility and collaboration.
Research workflows can be planned, executed, disseminated, and assessed within a GDPR-compliant cloud environment. A credit-based resource model ensures flexible and transparent access to services.
Key objective: As the reference implementation of the EOSC Federation, the EOSC EU Node provides the technical and administrative blueprint for interoperability across national, regional, and thematic nodes. Its standards and practices, detailed in the EOSC Federation Handbook, ensure a coherent, trusted, and scalable framework that turns the vision of EOSC into operational reality.
Science areas: Core federating capabilities and horizontal services for the EOSC Federation.
