Case study
Data Steward @Unibo is a strategic project supporting multidisciplinary research data management. By applying a transversal approach, the project follows the data lifecycle and enhances collaboration between data stewards, privacy officers, and knowledge transfer offices. The initiative is inspired by participation in a Task Force of the EOSC Association and aligns with the university’s digital transformation and commitment to Open Science practices.
Problem addressed
Open Science calls for a unified culture of data stewardship that recognises research data as a crucial output. Consistent curation of datasets and a cultural shift in data handling practices are needed to ensure the long-term reuse of data across disciplines, institutions, and countries. The Data Steward @Unibo project works towards an open-by-default research data environment, adhering to FAIR principles and promoting open access for publicly funded research.
