What is Open Science? How can openness and the culture of sharing be practiced and promoted in science? What methods are there to live more openness in scientific practice? Under the motto  Meet, Share, Inspire, Care, the 3rd Open Science Festival in Germany  offers the opportunity to pursue these and other questions, to network and to learn from one another.

Open Science creates encounters within and with science, enables access to knowledge, data and research processes. Openness as a principle shapes the framework conditions of science. Open access and open data facilitate access to scientific findings. Open standards and methods enable cooperation and are inspiration for new research approaches. At the same time, Open Science rethinks the relationship between science and society. 

The 3rd Open Science Festival is aimed equally at newcomers, interested parties and experts and aims to enable encounters and exchanges in a wide variety of formats. Whether students or scientists, research managers or decision-makers, science journalists or interested members of the public, the Rhine-Main Universities cordially invite you to the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from September 17-18, 2024 .

This year’s Open Science Festival is based on a concept from the Netherlands . The first German festivals took place in Hanover and Cologne .
