During this ECS high-level policy event, key pathways will be explored for the institutionalization and long-term sustainability of citizen science, with a focus on the critical role of research infrastructures. Panelists will discuss strategies to increase the visibility, accessibility, and uptake of citizen science data; approaches to capacity building and sustaining collaborative networks; opportunities to integrate citizen science into national monitoring programmes; and funding mechanisms to support initiatives over time. This event is held in collaboration with the EU-funded RIECS project, which aims to integrate citizen science data into a pan-European research infrastructure by linking citizen science tools with professional scientific resources.
Confirmed panelists:
Kyle Copas (GBIF)
Georgios Papanagnou (EC, DG Research and Innovation)
Rosy Mondardini (Citizen Science Center Zurich, UZH/ETH)
