E-RIHS ERIC
E-RIHS ERIC is the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science, supporting the study, interpretation, conservation, documentation, and management of cultural heritage. Officially established as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) on 28 March 2025, it offers access to cutting-edge laboratories, tools, and data, and provides training opportunities in heritage science. E-RIHS ERIC is headquartered in Florence, Italy, with 11 founding members: Cyprus, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM ) is a permanent observer.
Through its distributed yet integrated architecture, E-RIHS ERIC acts as a single-entry point to a broad and complementary portfolio of capabilities. It delivers its services through four integrated access platforms:
- ARCHLAB – scientific archives and reference collections,
- FIXLAB – advanced analytical facilities at fixed sites,
- MOLAB – mobile, non-invasive in situ investigations, and
- DIGILAB – the most recent platform, currently active for access to digital tools, with the progressive integration of digital data resources underway.
