Technical launch of the EOSC EU Node sets the stage for a successful deployment

On 10 October 2024, the European Commission hosted the technical launch of the EOSC EU Node in Brussels. It marked a significant milestone when the contractors formally delivered their managed services to the Commission acting as the service owner of the platform.

The EOSC EU Node is the first reference implementation of a gateway designed to streamline access to scientific data, publications, software, and services. This digital platform enables researchers across Europe to collaborate more effectively and drive progress in Open Science.

The EOSC Association actively participated in the event, with Karel Luyben, President of the EOSC Association, delivering a welcome speech that highlighted the value EOSC will bring to researchers. He also noted the strong interest in joining the EOSC Federation, as evidenced by the number of respondents to a survey conducted by the EOSC Tripartite Governance over the summer, which aimed to assess the readiness for the build-up phase of the EOSC Federation.

Bob Jones, a member of the EOSC Association’s Board of Directors, participated in an engaging panel discussion on the development of the EOSC Federation. The EOSC Federation will comprise multiple interconnected EOSC Nodes, enabling collaborative sharing and management of scientific data, knowledge, and resources across thematic and geographical research communities.

Presentation of the EOSC EU Node services to the broader group of stakeholders will take place during the EOSC Symposium held on 21-23 October 2024 in Berlin, Germany.
