The Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is pleased to announce that the new European Research Area (ERA) Presidency Conference will be held live at the Brdo Congress Centre in Slovenia (complemented by virtual participation) from 26-27 October 2021.
The Conference will focus on discussing the process of redesigning the European Research Area (ERA) policy framework, informing future European Commission policy initiatives, as well as feeding into policy-making work of the Council of the EU, the
Member States and countries associated with Horizon Europe.
The first working session of the Conference will be the ministerial policy roundtable, taking place on 26 October. With the valuable participation of stakeholders, the conference will discuss the context of the new ERA, translation of ERA priorities into national actions and policy reforms, as well as the external dimensions of ERA, with the Ministers of the current (DE, PT, SI) and the upcoming (FR, CZ, SE) Trio Presidencies and Commissioner Gabriel. The ministerial roundtable will be followed by a journey to the new ERA panel, to discuss the Pact for R&I in Europe, the ERA Policy Agenda and the future governance framework, with respected panellists and stakeholders’ interactive participation.
The second day, 27 October, will be fully dedicated to stakeholder discussions where four breakout sessions are foreseen, based on the three main ERA pillars – people, infrastructure, and economy – and an additional horizontal one on Open Science.
Konstantinos Glinos, Head of Unit for Open Science, DG RTD, European Commission, will be participating at the breakout session on Day 2 (27 October), who will be providing some insightful talk on “ERA for Open Science”.
Everyone is welcome to shape the ERA and contribute their ideas to the field of research and innovation.
