Licia FLORIO

Licia Florio brings over 20 years of expertise in managing stakeholder engagement and coordinating international initiatives, with a focus on enabling federated access within the research and e-Infrastructures communities. Over the past decade, she has held leadership roles in European Union-funded projects under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe framework programmes, primarily supporting the development of large-scale federated infrastructures such as eduroam and eduGAIN.

Licia has actively contributed to the InCommon Community Architecture Committee for Trust and Identity (CACTI) and the EOSC Future Technical Committee. Additionally, she serves as an external expert for the European Commission, evaluating proposals under Horizon Europe’s Cybersecurity calls.

With a degree in Computer Science, Licia was honored with the Vietsch Foundation Medal of Honour in 2018 for her instrumental leadership in shaping the European and global authentication and authorization landscape for research and education.


Currently, Licia leads:

  • The AARC TREE Project, which continues to advance the AARC interoperability framework underpinning the EOSC AAI.
  • The Operational Quality Assurance Team for the LOT2 and LOT3 consortia, overseeing the delivery of the EOSC EU Node.
