Research Software Quality Toolkit

Q1 2027
  • Software
  • Result description

The Research Software Quality Toolkit (RSQT) provides a knowledge base for assessing the quality and excellence of research software (how to write, maintain, and sustain good and practical code, information around FAIR, Open Science, or sustainability of software). EVERSE works towards further defining domain-specific criteria for software excellence to be used in training.

    Problem addressed

When applying the FAIR principles, research software is still treated as an afterthought to research data. EVERSE aims to change this by establishing research software as a “first-class citizen” in the EOSC Federation.

    Who can use the result

The target group is anyone who is actively involved in research software development. At the same time, best practices and recommendations are aimed at regulatory frameworks and policy makers.

    Timeline

The Alpha version is already available for testing. The toolkit is a dynamic resource that will evolve throughout the entire project.
