EOSC Association newsletter #18

November may have been the busiest month for the Association yet, and we are very proud to bring you our news and updates from EOSC far and wide. Below you will find coverage of the EOSC-A 5th General Assembly, including elections and new members, as well as the EOSC Symposium 2022 and some of the events taking place adjacent to this gathering, including the second European Tripartite Event. We also bring you news of publications from the EOSC-A Task Forces, Ireland’s NORF, Science Europe and an assessment of the INFRAEOSC calls of H2020 by the Association.

With two major gatherings of the EOSC ecosystem planned for November, the month ahead looks to be a pivotal moment in the assessment and development of EOSC. Next week is the EOSC Symposium 2022, which, as the major EOSC event on the annual calendar, is not to be missed. In the final week of the month, EOSC-A will host its fifth General Assembly, which will review the rapid development of the Association, include the election of the President and two Board members, and set the stage for 2023.

EOSC Association Newsletter #15

A number of EOSC Association summer initiatives are coming to fruition in September, and we invite you to join us in moving the implementation of EOSC forward. In addition to progressing the periodic updates to the foundational Multi-Annual Roadmap and Additional Activities Plan, the Association has launched three new communications and engagement initiatives in August. In advance of the 30 September Coordination Meeting with all new Horizon Europe INFRAEOSC projects, EOSC-A has launched the rollout of the EOSC Forum engagement platform and published the new EOSC “Corporate Design Manual” in parallel with the new “Co-branding Guidelines for Horizon Europe INFRAEOSC Projects”.

Following the presentation of the new EOSC logo at our last General Assembly, in July we developed a new look & feel for our online communication platforms such as the EOSC website, social media, and this newsletter. A fresh green with pink highlights, speckled with pictures of our member base, catches the reader's attention. The full corporate design manual of the EOSC Association is currently being developed and will be ready for use by the end of August.

June 2022 saw the awarding of our President Karel Luyben as honorary doctorate by the University of Strathclyde and marked the start of the first Horizon Europe INFRAEOSC projects FAIR-IMPACT, FAIRCORE4EOSC, and EOSC Focus.
Looking ahead, we are preparing the AAP 2023 survey and the Association’s #5 and #6 General Assemblies with the help of two new team members, Jola Skubiszewska and Erik-Jan Bos, and the ongoing commitment of our Task Forces.

Greetings from the EOSC Association as we turn the corner into summer.
There is much to report following on the first ever in-person meeting of the EOSC-A General Assembly in the last week of May. More than 200 delegates travelled to the two-day meeting that served to mark a significant moment in the development of EOSC. In this newsletter you will read that we have a new EOSC logo, new Members and Observers, updated the Multi-Annual Roadmap (MAR). The EOSC Partnership Board has adopted a Monitoring Framework, launched a major procurement action, and will introduce several new projects and initiatives moving forward this summer. Enjoy!

In the May Newsletter you will find the latest information about the logo contest, the reports of the EOSC-A Board Strategy Workshop and the online meeting with the INFRA-EOSC H2020 Projects. Moreover, you can participate in the Task Forces' surveys about Data Quality and community-specific use cases on Policy and Implementation and meet the two co-chairs of the AAI Task Force.

In May our Members and Observers will gather in Brussels for EOSC-A’s fourth General Assembly, an occasion to discuss relevant topics and network within the membership. Meanwhile, engagement activities continue throughout the community, including the recently concluded Multi-Annual Roadmap public consultation, the upcoming final online vote for the logo contest and, this week’s alignment meeting with the H2020 INFRA-EOSC project coordinators. This edition of the newsletter will also introduce you to the two co-chairs of the EOSC Research Careers, Recognition & Credit Task Force, Francesca Di Donato and Gustav Nilsonne.

Spring is just around the corner and the Association has opened a season of community engagement activities covering a range of topics. Firstly, 90 Members responded to the Additional Activities Plan survey which will be discussed further at the 4th EOSC-A General Assembly, 24-25 May in Brussels. Registration is already open! The Association also intensified the communication with Members to ensure better internal coordination and set up regular meetings with the Mandated Organisations to discuss their role in the Association. Last but not least, from today it is possible to participate in the MAR (Multi-Annual Roadmap) Consultation until 21 March.

EOSC Association Newsletter #8

We are looking forward to weeks of intense engagement with its Members, Task Forces, and the broader community. While the Members are actively contributing to the establishment of the Additional Activities Plan (AAP) 2022, the Task Forces are invited to contribute to the up-date of the Multi-Annual Roadmap (MAR) of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Once this draft is available, the broader community will be able to provide further feedback and contribute through an online consultation. The EOSC logo contest has been extended to the end of February and we count on you to help our new video go viral.
