A report from the second edition of the EOSC Winter School has been published, summarising key discussions from the community event held on 20-23 January 2025 in Seville, Spain. The document outlines recommendations formulated within seven topic-focused groups to inform the work plans of the EOSC Opportunity Area Expert Groups.
Alongside the activities and outcomes described, the report reflects the EOSC community’s ongoing commitment to fostering the development of EOSC. The full report is available on Zenodo.
It argues that the collaboration mechanisms established by the EOSC Focus project, particularly the EOSC Opportunity Area Expert Groups along with the EOSC-A Task Forces, have now gained broad acceptance within the community as essential instruments to deliver “one EOSC”.
However, the increasing need for high-level integration across topics and the strong commitment of all actors calls for an adjusted pace of collaboration to effectively align with the fast-moving developments in the EOSC ecosystem.
The Winter School 2025 was organised by the EOSC Association, with the support and participation of the EOSC Focus project, INFRAEOSC projects, EOSC-A Task Forces, and EOSC Opportunity Area Expert Groups. Representatives from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, and Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology also participated in the event.
A third EOSC Winter School, building on the lessons learned and featuring an updated methodology, is planned for early 2026 with the support of the EOSC Gravity project, which will succeed EOSC Focus in June 2025.
