User and resource environments: Trusted VREs and EOSC Federation Model

The EOSC Federation Model will be introduced to guide infrastructure, Virtual Research Environment (VRE) and other service providers on the technical requirements to join the EOSC Federation.

This session aims to explore the technical procedures to enrol as a Node or onboard services to a pre-existing EOSC Node.

Participants will learn about fostering sustainable community spaces via “subdomains”, advanced data integrations such as Zenodo and Copernicus, and innovations in AI, highlighting FAIR principles and the Galaxy Training Network’s (GTN) contributions to sustainable, interoperable research. Towards linking with the European Common Data Spaces, federated and interoperable systems will be demonstrated through trusted VREs for securely identifying, sharing, processing and reusing FAIR data.

  • Present the EOSC Federation Handbook and first experiences from the EOSC Beyond pilots to start an interactive discussion and gather feedback on the enrolment and onboarding processes for the EOSC Federation.
  • Discuss technical topics, including “Bring Your Own” paradigm: Data (BYOD) with EUDAT, EGI and EU-Node integration, Compute (BYOC) using Pulsar and cloud platforms (including EGI Cloud), and Storage (BYOS) leveraging S3, iRODS, EGI DataHub (OneData) to users.
