The FAIR Metrics and Digital Objects Task Force aims to address the challenges associated with the federation of FAIR data by extending traditional FAIR metrics, which predominantly focus on repository features. The Task Force’s main goals include evaluating data reusability and defining new FAIR metrics to assess data and repository suitability for federation.
The TF aligns with the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda of EOSC, focusing on Strategic Objectives SO4 and SO5, and Operational Objectives OO5 and OO6. It also supports priorities in the Multi-Annual Roadmap, such as liaising with HEU projects and fostering FAIR-enabled trusted repositories.
The TF will focus on surveying existing technologies for metadata schemas, identifying limitations in managing private data in repositories, exploring synergies with Data Spaces, proposing new FAIR metrics, and developing data quality indicators. The membership will include experts from research communities, data repositories, and research infrastructure to achieve these objectives.
