Senior Engagement and Outreach Officer

The EOSC Association (EOSC-A) was established in July 2020 as a not-for-profit international Association (AISBL) in Belgium. With already over 230 member and observer organisations from across Europe, the Association represents a single voice for the advocacy and representation for the broader EOSC Stakeholder community in Europe, promoting alignment of EU research policy and priorities. An essential role of the Association is to continuously develop the EOSC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) which will influence future EOSC activities at institutional, national and EU level. 

EOSC-A as the representation of the community is the contractual partner of the European Commission in the co-programmed Horizon Europe EOSC Partnership. An important player in this set-up are the Members States and Associated Countries organized in the so-called “EOSC Steering Board”, who are working with the EC and EOSC-A on aligning objectives, efforts, and activities. In order to facilitate and to leverage these collaborative efforts, the EOSC Association AISBL is seeking to fill the position of a Senior Engagement and Outreach Officer as soon as possible.

In this role you will be part of the Secretariat, which advises and supports the General Assembly and the Board and coordinates the implementation of their decisions. You will be reporting to the Secretary General.

Your responsibilities:

  • Mapping and analysis of target groups 
  • Developing engagement and outreach strategies for targeted stakeholder groups
  • Developing and implementing engagement activities with relevant stakeholders in Member States and Associated Countries.
  • Defining, deploying, and maintaining tools and platforms to engage with the EOSC-A member base (intranet, CRM etc.)
  • Leveraging outreach and engagement activities of EOSC-A members, Horizon-funded projects, and relevant networks, forums, and other Horizon Europe Partnerships
  • Contributing to the growth of member base of EOSC-A
  • (Contributing to) writing policy papers, strategies, briefings, reports, and other internal and external documents
  • Supporting the work of the EOSC-A Task Forces
  • Giving presentations and speaking at public events
  • Contributing to the day-to-day activities of EOSC-A

Your skills set and expertise:

  • Excellent communications skills and ability to adapt to different audiences
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills; service-minded facilitator attitude 
  • Ability to be flexible and to function effectively under pressure
  • Experience in working in an international environment is essential
  • Excellent oral and written command of English is a prerequisite

Mandatory requirements are:

  • Significant work experience from a similar role involving stakeholders from public administration as well as the research arena
  • Academic degree in a subject relevant to the portfolio of the tasks
  • Capacity to learn and evolve with the job and the needs of the organisation
  • Legal entitlement to work in Belgium

Desired requirements are:

  • Experience working in a multicultural, international context
  • Deep knowledge of the EU institutions and the decision-making processes, as well as policy areas relevant to the topic such as Research and Innovation, Open Science, the Digital Single Market
