SUMMARY:Building the EOSC Federation: Progress\, Practice and Lessons from across Europe
DESCRIPTION:How is the EOSC Federation taking shape across Europe\, and what opportunities does it offer researchers\, research organisations and the wider research and innovation community? \nINSPIRING ERA invites you to join a European online event on 22 October 2026\, 14:30–16:30 CEST\, organised in collaboration with the EOSC Association. \nThe European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is a key European initiative supporting Open Science and strengthening the European Research Area. At its heart\, the emerging EOSC Federation is connecting research data\, services and infrastructures across Europe\, making it easier for researchers to discover\, access and use resources across borders and disciplines. For researchers\, research organisations\, funders and policymakers\, it has the potential to change how knowledge and research resources are shared and used across Europe. \nAs the EOSC Federation enters its implementation phase\, understanding what it offers is becoming increasingly relevant across the European research and innovation community. This online INSPIRING ERA event will take stock of progress and explore what the Federation means in practice for different parts of the research and innovation community. \nBringing together perspectives from European policy\, the EOSC community\, EOSC Nodes and research\, the event will share practical experiences and emerging lessons from across Europe. It will consider the value the Federation can offer to researchers and research organisations\, alongside the opportunities and challenges associated with its continued development and wider uptake across the European Research Area. \nThe event is aimed at a broad European research and innovation audience\, including researchers and research organisations\, policymakers\, funders\, research managers\, Open Science and research data professionals\, and research infrastructure and e-infrastructure providers. \nOrganised by INSPIRING ERA in collaboration with the EOSC Association this event is part of a series of online events supporting the implementation of the European Research Area Policy Agenda.

SUMMARY:PIDfest 2026
DESCRIPTION:PIDfest 2026 will take place in Leiden\, the Netherlands\, from October 27-29\, 2026. It is intended to be a global meeting place for everyone who cares about keeping knowledge connected – across people\, systems\, disciplines\, borders\, and time. The goal is to grow a broader\, more diverse\, more global Persistent Identifier community\, from first-timers to infrastructure leaders. \nThe theme this year is Keeping Knowledge Connected\, and the Call for Proposals is open now through March 22. Proposals are welcome from all PID enthusiasts\, wherever you are on your PID journey – and in a range of session formats\, including short talks\, panels\, workshops\, “birds of a feather” sessions\, interactive presentations\, lightning talks\, and posters. Please note that you must be able to deliver your presentation in person. \nIf you have an idea that doesn’t fit neatly into one of these formats\, we’d still love to hear about it. We may even be able to connect you with other interested groups with whom you share a synergy and potential for a successful session. \nHow to submit your proposal \nPlease see our brief writing guide for proposals for ideas on how to pitch your session. When you’re ready you can submit your proposal here (please note that you will need to set up an account on the SURF platform where the proposal form is hosted – you will then be able to access and edit your proposal any time before the deadline). \nThe Call for Proposals will remain open through March 22. All submissions will be anonymised and reviewed by the Programme Committee\, who aim to contact everyone about their decisions by April 30.

SUMMARY:DAMAP-PL workshop: A tool to simplify the preparation of data management plans
DESCRIPTION:The DAMAP–PL inter-project grant\, funded under EOSC Gravity\, is organising an on-site workshop on 27 October 2026. Hosted at Gdańsk University of Technology\, the workshop will bring together researchers and research-support staff from the host institution\, as well as from two other Pomeranian universities: the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk. The workshop will be conducted in Polish. \nThe DAMAP-PL project is coordinated by TU Wien in collaboration with Cyfronet AGH and Gdańsk University of Technology. The project aims to deploy the DAMAP tool within the Polish EOSC Node infrastructure\, integrate it with key node services\, and adapt it to the Data Management Plan (DMP) template requirements of Poland’s National Science Centre (NCN)\, national funding organisation. \nDAMAP is an open-source service that supports researchers and data stewards in preparing clear\, consistent\, and funder-aligned DMPs. By reusing information available through external services\, it reduces the need to enter the same data repeatedly. Its structured guidance and machine-actionable outputs help improve DMP quality while reducing the time\nrequired for preparation. \nWithin the DAMAP-PL project\, TU Wien provides guidance on software configuration\, Cyfronet AGH is responsible for deployment and EOSC-PL Node integration\, and Gdańsk University of Technology leads training and stakeholder engagement activities. \nThe workshop programme will include two parallel tracks: \n\nTechnical administrator track: Participants will learn how to configure DAMAP and tailor it to institutional requirements\, including through the administrator interface and available configuration options.\nResearcher and research-support track: Participants will explore DAMAP’s functionality through hands-on exercises\, learn how to use or support the use of the tool\, and contribute methodological feedback and suggestions for further improvement.\n\nAt the end of the workshop\, the organisers will collect participants’ feedback on the potential implementation and wider adoption of DAMAP in the Polish research landscape.
