DESCRIPTION:The workshop will bring together European and regional level policy makers\, representatives from the Nordic countries active in the EOSC governance (EOSC Steering Board and EOSC Association) and in the EOSC national structures and the key stakeholders (service providers\, users\, experts) contributing to the EOSC uptake in the region. Representatives from the other EOSC regional projects (EOSC Pillar\, NI4OS\, EOSC Synergy) will be also invited to contribute to the discussion. \nThe workshop will revolve around two main themes: \n\nEOSC coordination\, policies and engagement in the Nordic countries: what is the impact of EOSC on the region so far and what are the expectations for the future? What are the existing barriers for a full EOSC adoption? What are the necessary steps to make EOSC part of the national roadmaps?\nLUMI: a model for EOSC?: The Nordic countries have made significant investments in a new computing and AI infrastructure (LUMI). Can EOSC benefit from LUMI? What are the plans to build potential synergies between LUMI (EuroHPC) and EOSC? Can the LUMI business and funding model be replicated in EOSC?\n\nThe workshop will build upon the key outcomes and messages from the two previous policy workshops organised by EOSC Nordic (February 2020\, March 2021). \n>> Agenda and further information \n>> Registration

SUMMARY:SSHOC Final Conference
DESCRIPTION:The conference brings together Research infrastructures\, Researchers\, Research Libraries and Archives\, EOSC key-players\, industry and policymakers from the Social Sciences and Humanities and beyond. The agenda will be made available shortly. \nFrom January 2019 to April 2022 SSHOC transformed the current social sciences & humanities data landscape with its disciplinary silos and separate facilities into an integrated\, cloud-based network of interconnected data infrastructures. The final conference programme is designed to showcase the results achieved\, lever on the valuable synergies built and learn about user stories from the community.  There will be time to reflect on policy & sustainability issues and look towards the future. \nWe also invite researchers\, data experts and e-infrastructure professionals to join the online SSHOCing Hackathon to work on a pre-defined or wild card challenge with the SSHOC resources. The Hackathon brings fresh user stories and reflections for future development into the conference programme. Attractive prizes are to be won! More information will be available soon. \n>> Further information

SUMMARY:I-ADOPT Framework for FAIR variables and metadata description - Event 2
DESCRIPTION:The topic of the training \nThe aim of the I-ADOPT initiative is to produce an Interoperability Framework\, co-developed by a wide community of terminology experts\, for representing observable properties. This effort will have a strong focus on observable properties in environmental research because it leverages existing efforts to accurately encode what was measured\, observed\, derived\, or computed in relation to the earth systems.\nThe framework has been developed by an RDA working group\, dedicated to this topic.\nThe aim is to create FAIRer observable property terminologies\, the global effectiveness of tools operating upon them will be improved and their impact increased. This will thus strengthen existing collaborations and build new connections between terminology developers and providers\, disciplinary experts from across the various domains of Earth and Environmental Science\, and representatives of scientific data user groups. \nThe RDA I-ADOPT framework offers a way to compile clear and unambiguous definitions of variables in a standardised way. It helps you to describe concepts at different levels\, ranging from overarching classes (“soil composition”) down to the very detailed (“soil water content\, measured in a mineral soil matrix below root depth”). You can create and register your own definitions\, or reuse those of others\, and once in place use them to tag your RI’s datasets.\nThe formalized descriptions empower FAIR in many ways\, for example by facilitating searches across data portals (F+A) and enabling machine-driven interpretation and use of data and metadata (I+R). \nTo learn more about the I-ADOPT framework and how your RI can benefit\, please check the website.
