SUMMARY:Webinar: Archive your software to the Software Heritage
DESCRIPTION:Software Heritage\, the universal source code archive\, has the ambitious goal to collect\, preserve and share all publicly available software in source code form. Recognizing that source code embodies our technical and scientific knowledge\, it is crucial to archive\, reference describe and cite software the same way we do with publications and data. In the EU project FAIRCORE4EOSC\, a dedicated team is missioned with the task to identify and archive the relevant software for academia in general and for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)\, in particular. The EOSC-Core components are included as a primary aim to be saved for the long term in the universal source code archive\, Software Heritage.  It is important to note that archiving any software repository is extremely easy with the save code now feature\, where anyone can save any code (like archive.org’s Wayback machine). Though saving is easy\, finding is hard. This is why preparing the code for archival with machine-actionable metadata can ensure the Research Software and the EOSC-Core components are findable. \nIn this webinar\, we introduce the Software Heritage archive features and present guidelines to better archive code repositories. We will detail the steps on how you can prepare the service repositories so as to help us easily index them and archive them in Software Heritage. Be prepared and make sure your source code is hosted on a repository publicly accessible (Github\, Bitbucket\, a GitLab instance\, an institutional software forge\, etc.) using one of the version control systems supported by Software Heritage\, currently Git\, Subversion and Mercurial. We will present a set of well-established best practices to make the repository indexable. A linked data metadata file will assist in indexing your source code in the Software Heritage archive and provide an easy way to link to other related research outputs. \n\nHow to easily find archived repositories of EOSC Core services\nExplaining the process and show examples with Software Heritage\nHow to prepare your repository to be archived in Software Heritage\n\nAgenda\nTiming is in CEST \n11:00 – Overview and introduction of the concept – Morane Gruenpeter\, Software Heritage \n11:20 – How to Prepare / Store a Service Repository to make it preservable and accessible on the long term – Themis Zamani\, GRNET \n11:40 – Q&A and interactive session    \nWho should attend\n\nRepository owners\nService providers\nResearch and e-Infrastructures\n\nRegister now

SUMMARY:Jornadas Científicas 2023
DESCRIPTION:Open Science represents an approach to science that is collaborative\, transparent and accessible\, facilitating the sharing and communication of processes and results. There is a wide range of activities in Open Science\, including open access publishing\, open data and open peer review. \nIt also includes\, however\, open innovation and citizen science\, or more broadly\, stakeholder engagement \, where companies and other partners\, including citizens\, directly participate in the investigation. \nOpen Science goes hand in hand with integrity and ethics on the part of researchers\, it improves the transparency and reproducibility of research\, as well as the public ownership of science\, especially that which is publicly funded. For Open Science to become widespread\, it is necessary to include Open Science practices in performance assessment and career development plans\, as well as in evaluation criteria for funding projects and institutions. \nThe opening lecture will generically address issues of open science and innovation\, followed by three thematic sessions\, in a round table format\, with guests and plenary participation. \nBefore and during the event\, electronic posters will be presented (see here the Digital Posters) in which the University of Lisbon will publicise its interdisciplinary activities and impact on society. \nIn this second edition of the Scientific Days of the University of Lisbon\, the ULisboa Atlas of Associate Laboratories 2023 is published\, which gathers information on the 21 Associated Laboratories in which the University of Lisbon is a leader or participant\, namely the scientific area of activity\, strategic objectives\, activities and impact. \nWebsite

PALOMERA has set out to provide actionable recommendations and concrete resources to support and coordinate aligned funder and institutional policies for Open Access books. Doing so involves assessing challenges and bottlenecks that currently slow the widespread implementation of OA book policy. \nParticipants will have the chance to engage with the three projects and their vision for community-driven open scholarly publishing. Be part of this conversation and help us shape the future of Open Access as a community! DISCLAIMER: The information you provide will be handled in accordance with the DIAMAS project privacy policy. This event will be recorded\, published and shared after the event – due to this all participant cameras are automatically turned off on entry to the Zoom meeting. The event has a maximum capacity of 500 persons.
