DESCRIPTION:The written procedure for the 14th EOSC-A General Assembly opened on Tuesday\, 01 September\, and will close on Sunday\, 13 September 2026 at 23:59 CEST. All registered delegates of EOSC-A Member Organisations should have received their voting credentials and a unique link to the Helios Voting platform from <no-reply@mail.heliosvoting.org> on 01 September. \nIf you are a delegate and have not received your ballot\, please check your spam folder and then contact ga@eosc.eu.  \n\nThe 14th General Assembly meeting of the EOSC Association will take place\, in accordance with Article 3.5 of the Articles of Association\, via a written procedure over a two-week period from 01 to 13 September 2026. \nDuring this time\, delegates with voting rights will be invited to cast their ballots on the following two items: \n1) Approval of the proposed revision to Article 4.1(5) of the EOSC-A Internal Regulations\, which will result in the adoption of version 1.1 of the Internal Regulations; and \n2) Approval of version 2.0 of the EOSC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA 2.0). \nThe papers for GA#14 were distributed to EOSC-A membership by e-mail on 12 August 2026 and included detailed information about how to use the Helios Voting platform\, as well as guidance on the nomination of alternative delegates. \nPlease note that\, for this General Assembly\, registration is not required and proxies from other institutions will not be accepted. EOSC-A will distribute the ballots directly to all delegates on 01 September 2026. \nThe General Assembly can only validly deliberate if at least half of all Members and at least half of the Mandated Organisations cast their vote. We encourage all eligible Members to participate in the written procedure.

DESCRIPTION:the upcoming\, hybrid CoARA Conference that will take place on 7-8 September 2026 in Paris\, France at the CNRS Auditorium. Under the theme\, “Shaping CoARA’s Future: Strengthened Communities Driving Systemic Change in Research Assessment\,” the conference will bring together core members of the coalition and community leaders across the wider research ecosystem to showcase emerging practices shaping a fairer\, more inclusive research culture and to collectively shape a shared vision for a future that drive systemic change. \nCo-hosted by CNRS\, ESF\, Science Europe\, and ALLEA\, as part of the Horizon Europe CoARA Boost project\, the conference will spotlight actionable outputs\, project outcomes\, and lessons learned from CoARA’s key communities\, including Working Groups\, Cascade Funding beneficiaries\, and National Chapters\, alongside other key contributors to the wider research assessment reform movement. As reform efforts mature across different institutional and national contexts\, there is growing demand for practical support\, stronger monitoring and evaluating mechanisms\, and enhanced alignment with global partner initiatives. SUMMARY:EOSC Federation Build-up Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The next in-person meeting of the EOSC Federation Build-up Group will take place on 08-09 September 2026 in Karlsruhe\, Germany. \nThe meeting will be hosted by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the invitation of the German EOSC Node and its coordinating organisation\, NFDI\, together with EUDAT EOSC Node. \nThe main objective of the meeting is to assess the operational progress of the EOSC Federation and prepare for the EOSC Symposium 2026\, where a major milestone in the transition to operational activities will be marked. \nThe meeting will be held in person only. Remote participation will not be possible. \nOn the second day of the meeting\, participants will have the opportunity to join an interactive workshop on SMS requirements for Nodes joining the EOSC Federation. The workshop will review the “EOSC Federation & Nodes’ SMSs – Proposal for initial implementation” document and explore practical examples of how the requirements may be met by Nodes. \nRegistration\nRegistration closed on Monday\, 31 August 2026\, at 23:59 CEST. \nParticipation is limited to representatives of the first-wave and second-wave candidate EOSC Nodes\, the EOSC EU Node\, EOSC-A\, co-chairs of EOSC Federation working groups\, the European Commission\, and the EOSC Steering Board. A maximum of two participants per Node may attend. \nTransportation\nParticipants are responsible for arranging and covering the costs of their own travel and accommodation. \nThe most convenient airports for travelling to Karlsruhe are Frankfurt am Main (FRA)\, Strasbourg (SXB)\, and Stuttgart (STR). SUMMARY:EOSC-France 2026 : Implementation of the future French National Node in the EOSC Federation
DESCRIPTION:The French research communities are strongly engaged in establishing a national node as part of the next phase of integration within the EOSC Federation. This workshop aims to present and discuss the vision\, scope\, and objectives of a French EOSC Node while also drawing on contributions from other national EOSC Nodes and thematic node representatives to ensure alignment of approaches. It will further seek to identify shared priorities to support the consolidation of a French EOSC Node within the broader EOSC Federation. In addition\, the workshop will demonstrate and review French use cases that could be implemented during the third phase of the EOSC Federation\, and provide a collaborative space to explore priority future use cases and associated alignment requirements.

Registration is required to attend. \nThe sessions will give an overview of the EOSC Monitoring Tool\, explain how to complete and submit the survey\, answer participants’ questions\, and provide an opportunity to begin completing the survey with guidance from the monitoring team.

DESCRIPTION:On 18 and 19 March 2027\, the fifth Open Science Festival in the German-speaking world will bring this discussion to the University of Bamberg. The festival will provide a platform for researchers\, early-career scholars\, students\, citizen scientists\, and staff from libraries\, infrastructure organisations and research institutions to exchange experiences and develop new perspectives on open scholarship. \nThe first programme elements have now been announced—and they indicate that the festival will address Open Science not as an isolated reform project\, but as part of a changing scientific and political environment. \nShaping knowledge together\nThe festival will open with a joint keynote by René Aquarius\, speaking from the perspective of a researcher and “Science Sleuth”\, and myself\, contributing the perspective of a research infrastructure organisation. \nOur topic will be Open Science in a Changing World. We will examine the role Open Science can play in the collective production of knowledge\, with particular attention to artificial intelligence\, global uncertainty and the risk that scientific knowledge may lose public relevance and authority. The keynote will be followed by an open discussion with the participants. \nThese questions are not merely theoretical. Artificial intelligence is already transforming the production and communication of knowledge. At the same time\, political\, economic and ecological uncertainty is placing pressure on research institutions and on public trust in science. Under these conditions\, openness cannot be reduced to providing access to publications or data. It also concerns the transparency of processes\, the reliability of infrastructures and the capacity of science to remain intelligible and relevant to society. \nFrom principles to practice\nSeveral programme elements will focus on the practical implementation of Open Science. \nA Data Challenge in the field of Music Information Retrieval will make Open Science principles tangible through collaborative work with data. Another session will examine the implementation of Open Science in Horizon Europe projects. The Bavarian Agency for Digital Affairs\, byte\, will contribute a hands-on workshop. \nThe planned “Share & Connect” mentoring programme extends the festival beyond the two days in Bamberg. Mentors and mentees will be matched to exchange ideas\, experiences and challenges over the course of a year. The collaboration will begin with a workshop during the festival. \nThe concluding programme will turn to Citizen Science. Writer and director of the International Artists’ House Villa Concordia\, Nora Gomringer\, will give a keynote\, followed by presentations from Citizen Science projects including the Love Letter Archive and the Bavarian Association for the Protection of Birds. A panel will discuss the possibilities\, added value and limits of genuine public participation in research. For the first time in the history of the German-language Open Science Festival\, this part of the programme will be open to the interested public. \nThe programme is still open\nThe announced sessions are only the beginning. The festival programme is intended to be shaped by the Open Science community itself\, and the Call for Proposals is currently open. \nContributions are invited in the form of five-minute Lightning Talks\, 90-minute interactive workshops\, posters\, tool demonstrations and project showcases. Proposals may address all areas of Open Science\, with particular emphasis on three thematic fields: \n\nshaping knowledge together in a changing world;\ntranslating Open Science from knowledge into action in research and teaching;\ndeveloping infrastructures\, services and standards that make Open Science possible in practice.\n\nThe main conference language will be German\, but contributions in English are explicitly welcome. \nThe submission deadlines are: \n\n15 October 2026 for Lightning Talks and workshops;\n15 December 2026 for posters\, tool-marketplace contributions and project showcases.\n\nOpen Science cannot be developed exclusively through declarations\, policies or technical infrastructures. It also requires places in which experiences can be compared\, failures discussed\, tools tested and new collaborations initiated. SUMMARY:International Data Week 2027
DESCRIPTION:The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will be hosting the 2027 edition of International Data Week (IDW). IDW 2027 will take place in Cape Town\, South Africa on 20 – 23 September 2027 and hosted by the IDW founding organisations: the International Science Council’s Committee on Data (CODATA)\, World Data System and the Research Data Alliance. \nThe event will be supported by the Department of Science and Innovation for South Africa\, and the local organising committee will be led by the CSIR’s National Integrated Cyberinfrastructure System (NICIS). \nIDW 2027 will address topics such as: enhancing and entrenching the dialogue on open science; skills development; infrastructure development; and resourcing in Africa.
