SUMMARY:ECSA 2026 Conference
DESCRIPTION:During this ECS high-level policy event\, key pathways will be explored for the institutionalization and long-term sustainability of citizen science\, with a focus on the critical role of research infrastructures. Panelists will discuss strategies to increase the visibility\, accessibility\, and uptake of citizen science data; approaches to capacity building and sustaining collaborative networks; opportunities to integrate citizen science into national monitoring programmes; and funding mechanisms to support initiatives over time. This event is held in collaboration with the EU-funded RIECS project\, which aims to integrate citizen science data into a pan-European research infrastructure by linking citizen science tools with professional scientific resources. \nConfirmed panelists: \nKyle Copas (GBIF) \nGeorgios Papanagnou (EC\, DG Research and Innovation) \nRosy Mondardini (Citizen Science Center Zurich\, UZH/ETH) \nMargaret Gold (Citizen Science Lab\, Leiden University) \n  \nThis is an event organised by the European Citizen Science (ECS) project.
