SUMMARY:2024 Galaxy Community Conference (GCC2024)
DESCRIPTION:The general meeting portion of GCC2024 consist of a series of peer-reviewed talks\, posters\, demos\, training sessions\, Birds-of-a-Feather meetups\, and sponsor talks. \nThe registration fee includes admission to the meeting events\, snacks and drinks during the morning/afternoon break\, and lunch for each day. \nTuesday evening will be the official conference dinner\, which needs to be purchased along with the registration. If you’d like to purchase additional dinner tickets for your travel companion(s) you can do so at the time of registration. \nPlease note that all prices are listed in Euros (EUR) and exclude the mandatory VAT (21%). When paying for the registration\, you can use a credit card or do a bank transfer. You can also register and request the payment be processed afterwards by someone else\, such as your department administrator. If you prefer to reason in a different currency\, here is a convenient currency converter to see how these numbers compare. \nNote that online registration will close on June 15 but in-person registration will be available onsite during the event. \nIf you are currently working in a low-income country\, as defined by the World Bank\, please email the organizers before registering and ask for a 50% discount code that you can apply during registration. The list of eligible low-income countries is available in this document. \nIf you are a trainer or a member of the scientific committee at GCC2024 and are in need of financial help\, please email the event organizers and a discount code will be provided. \nIf you are not able to attend GCC2024 in person\, there is an option to watch the talks virtually. Please note that only the conference talks in the main room will be streamed\, so no access to training\, BoFs\, or posters/demos will be available virtually. There will be a conference Slack channel where anyone will be able to post questions to the speakers and/or interact with others present in the channel.

SUMMARY:Where do I start with FAIRification of sensitive data?
DESCRIPTION:The “FAIR Implementation Workshop – Where do I start with FAIRification of sensitive data?” will take place on 25th June at 14:00-15:15. \nSensitive data is ‘information that is regulated by law due to possible risk for plants\, animals\, individuals and/or communities and for public and private organisations’ (David et al\, 2020). It is with these kinds of data in mind that the phrase “as open as possible and as closed as necessary” is now presented as part of the ‘Accessible’ principle of FAIR. There are many different types of sensitive data\, and they exist in relation to many different contexts and disciplinary approaches. Perhaps most familiar to many will be personal data – for example names collected during a survey or interview –  but there is also commercially sensitive information\, data relating to the military or national security\, and data about vulnerable species\, and more. \nThis workshop will present a general overview of data sensitivity in relation to sharing and reuse; two presentations on aspects of sensitive data in different research areas; a focus on Persistent Identifiers and data handling of sensitive data; and an opportunity to join in the discussion with the presenters and with each other. \nConfirm your registration below. DESCRIPTION:“Networks\, HPC\, and Cloud Computing: Opportunities and Challenges Created by National Research Infrastructures“: this is the title of the public conference taking place on 25th June in Bologna. \nThe program includes the participation of Michele Mazzola\, Head of the General Directorate of Internationalization and Communication at the Ministry of University and Research\, and Carlo Cavazzoni\, Head of Leonardo Lab dedicated to HPC and Chair of the Industrial Advisory Board of ICSC National Research Center in HPC\, Big Data\, and Quantum Computing. \nDuring the day\, there will be presentations by project partners on use cases and contributions regarding the evolution of national research infrastructures and federated services for users\, as objectives of the TeRABIT project. \nTo participate in the event\, you must complete the registration form. SUMMARY:Webinar for parties interested in building up the EOSC Federation
DESCRIPTION:The EOSC Association will hold two webinars in June 2024 to explain the purpose of the Questionnaire for parties interested in contributing to the build-up phase of the EOSC Federation and provide guidance on how to complete it. Register to attend the second webinar on Tuesday\, 25 June 2024 between 15:00-16:00 CEST. \nThe Tripartite Governance of EOSC launched the questionnaire to gauge the scale and scope of general interest and readiness for the build-up phase of the EOSC Federation. Interested parties are invited to reply to the questionnaire as the first step in their eligibility to contribute to a testbed of potential EOSC Nodes representing the different stakeholders involved in the research communities of Europe. An overview of the results of the questionnaire will be shared with respondents and will be used to plan the next steps in the building of the EOSC Federation.
